Web design is changing

This entry is part 1 of 3 in the series Web design is changing.

Mobile internet usage June 2012

Right now is an exciting time to be a web designer. However, the growing abundance of browsers, devices and user situations is also presenting us with some new challenges.

Smartphones and tablets are changing the way we all access the internet. Last month, mobile devices accounted for over 11% of all internet usage in the UK. That’s only 1% less than people using Internet Explorer 8 on their PC. Mobile usage is predicted to overtake desktop browsing by 2014.

And what about the context that your user is looking at your website/app in? Are they on the move? Do they just need your address details super-quick, or are they sat on their sofa with time to browse your products or services? (Yes, they could still be doing that on their mobile).

No online brand can afford to ignore these trends, and neither can we. At Tribe we’re committed to finding the best solutions to ensure your site looks and works great in as many different scenarios as possible.

Back in April, we wrote an article entitled we’re going responsive. It usually isn’t practical or cost effective to build a different version of a website/app for every single scenario – so we build our websites to adapt.
